Set An Income Target To Make 2011 Your EPIC Break Out Year
Ok, don’t get ridiculous and say that you’re going to make $1 Million in January 2011. But don’t sell yourself short either.
I read and interesting concept on setting an income goal.
Which do you think is easier to make. $10,000 or $100,000?
$100,000
Here’s why:
“If your goal is to make $10,000, what you’re really trying to do is make enough to pay the bills. If that’s what your goal is, if that’s what you represent to yourself about why you’re working so hard, do you think that you will be in an excited, empowered, resourceful state as you work? Are you seething with excitement, thinking, Boy oh boy. I’ve got to get to work so I can make enough to pay my lousy bills?”
If you’re thinking that $10,000 is a lot of money to make in one month then scale it back to $1,000 and you’re going to end up with the same feeling. It’s defeating to be working hard to just barely get by. This is one of the reasons why so many people don’t have huge success with their Network Marketing business or any money making project that they take on. It’s just to make a little extra to cover the bills. There’s no driving motivation to get them excited and passionate about what they are doing.
When it comes to prospecting and selling you have to make the same calls, meet the same people and move the same products, no matter what results you are hoping to achieve.
“So it’s a lot more exciting, a lot more enticing, to go out with the goal of making $100,000 than $10,000. And that state of excitement is much more likely to activate your taking the kinds of consistent actions that will tap your higher potential than just hoping to go out and make a living.”
We know money isn’t the only motivator for us. So whatever your goal is go out and set it high enough that it will excite you to stretch yourself to really reach for it.
Don’t short sell yourself with lame goals that you think are going to be easy to reach. Set it 2 steps higher and push yourself. Go big or go home. Because you deserve it.
Make 2011 YOUR break out year.

This is AWESOME Steph!!! So many people set goals incorrectly by making them to easy or totally unattainable! You must set them smart by making them attainable yet still pushing youself! Great post!!!
BBQ or Mildew! lol, I love using that saying for everything now. You rock Joel.
An Excellent way to start out the New Year.
Right. Start out with a sudden burst of energy!
Hey Stephanie
Very good point; and well said. Like you said you want to set the bar with a standard high, but nothing to far from your grasp; that may seem ridiculous. Especially if your new in marketing. I believe that each time you start to get closer to reaching your target goals, then you should set it higher and higher each time.
Great writing, Steph! A sudden burst of energy works via creating a massive outcome via short, focussed bursts of energy, the same way a crowbar would. I could call my target a crowbar. I feel people have an aversion to goal-setting as they’ve programmed themselves to fail by not learning the correct techniques from the start. I think it depends on one’s intentions. Or, having a REAL crowbar!
A crowbar is a perfect analogy, it’s a tool for leverage to get yourself going. My friend calls it GOYA “Get Off Your Assets” lol
I love this Stephanie! I never thought of it this way – but go big or go home is a great motto to have no matter what you are striving for. Selling ourselves short will always lead to disappointment! I love your blog colors:)
Cool, thanks Glyna. And I’m glad you like the colors. I get a lot of comments about that,,, people either love em or hate em, either way, it’s part of my branding and I would hate to change it!
Stephanie this is so true. Just as with our goals as in everything else we can wallow in mediocrity or really shoot for the moon and tap into the winner we were meant to be.
I love the quote shoot for the moon if you miss you still land on a star.
Steve
Right on. I also like the saying “Don’t tell me the sky is the limit when there are footprints on the moon.”
“Go Big or Go Home!” Love it!!
Network Marketing – the only arena where industry leaders get criticized for telling others what is really possible if anyone goes for it!!
Soemone once said, “Imagine a basketball coach telling a new recruit that he can be just like the 12th man on the bench if he works really hard, instead of Michael Jordan!!”
Great article, Stephanie!
We all need to dream bigger and shoot for bigger income goals!! No point in just “making the team!”
That’s right. Who really wants to be “just average”? Anyone that says that has just had too many dream crushers in their life that put them down for dreaming big. It’s sad, cuz those are the people that have given up and the only one that can change that is themselves.
Its my first time on your blog. This is great to start the year with. As the saying goes ‘Aim for the stars, if you miss it, you’ll hit the moon”. I dont think I quoted that correctly but the whole point is to dream large.

Thanks Stepanie

Thanks for stopping by Ruth, I love reading “The Donald’s” books. The Art Of The Comeback has been my favorite so far. During his most depressing time he still moved forward and looked at what resources and contacts he had left and found a way to make things happen!
Hi Stephanie,
I enjoyed reading through your post as you put a different viewpoint on something that seems so simple, yet really isn’t…and as you note, something that can really make a difference in an individual’s success in network marketing. I personally had not ever thought about it in the way you shared, and made total sense to me, so appreciated the new viewpoint to think on
Christine
Stephanie!
You’ve hit the nail on the head. I totally agree that setting an attainable, but slightly lofty goal, is important. Even more so, sharing your goals with others so that may support and encourage you is key. I have claimed my revenue journey this year – $250k or Bust! – and am making my journey public to the world at http://www.250korbust.com I hope to inspire others and get there support. Keep up the great work and look forward to your future posts!
