Silly Marketer, Facebook Isn’t For Spam
I’m a little upset and angry. Just got off the phone with a good friend of mine that said there were going to block me on Facebook.
WHY????
Because they are SICK and tired of SPAMMERS going through my friend list and adding them and pitching their business to them.
So, I am asking for your help to spread the word to other marketers that you might see doing this and implore, bribe, beg them to STOP. Because it is this type of behavior that is creating the negative atmosphere with your warm market. And if you happen to be one of the marketers that did this to my, or someone else’s friend list,,, KNOCK IT OFF!
It’s been suggested to me that I have 2 separate accounts on facebook and not let my friends and family be on the same profile as marketers.
Why?
Facebook is a social network. It’s here for the purpose of socializing. Not for segregation of “real friends” and “marketers”. I’ve become great friends with some of the marketers I have met through Facebook… should I then have to tell them they need to switch over to my “real friend” profile?
There are some things that get me fired up and this was one of them. If you agree and are equally upset by marketers spamming your friends and family,,, that’s your job to bug them right?
Then please hit the ReTweet or Share button and spread the word.
Now I know that Facebook suggests friends based on mutual friends, but look twice. If you only have one friend in common it’s probably not another marketer.
And another tip, if you are going to be adding friends for the purpose of Networking,,, find them in common interests groups and fanpages. Not on someone else’s friend list. You will receive a much more welcoming network of marketers.

Stephanie,
Great post! I so agree with you! I have had marketers spam my husband!!! They want to be friends with him and he doesn’t have a clue who they are.
Thanks for sharing this information and I will help spread the word, as well!

Thanks Andie! My boyfriend is considering also taking me off and blocking because he seems to get the most harassment. He has his own way of Networking and he does NOT like using Facebook for it just for this reason. His profile is strictly family and a couple of friends. He’s afraid his list is going to be the next to start getting abused. People on the outside of Network Marketing have a hard enough time accepting and understanding what we do, this just makes the stigma worse!
Stephanie
nice post. thanks.
Nice one Steph. Never a truer word written!! Keep the great posts coming

Hi Stephanie,
You’re right, some of the spamming activities of a few marketers is tarnishing the image of an industry which does not have the best PR record already.
I chose the two accounts option which although sad in some ways, makes things easier in others. It certainly stops people trying to sign up my mother into their latest amazing pre-launch opportunity.
Thanks!
I’ve had this experience already and just got started. I have opted for the 2 acct set-up and it’s a shame, but there will always be those few out there. Thanks for your support of CLEAN internet marketing.
