A Little Blogging Secret Plugin To Keep Readers Coming Back Automatically
A Little Blogging Secret Plugin To Keep Readers Coming Back Automatically
I don’t normally rave about the wordpress plugins that I use. A girl’s gotta keep some secrets ya know!
But I came across one that I want the ENTIRE WORLD of bloggers to use because it’s like a little slice of heaven for your blog visitors that comment.
I comment often on other people’s blogs. However, if I want to know if someone replies back to my comment, I either have to remember to check back or subscribe to ALL of the comments on that post.
If it’s a blog that gets high traffic and a lot of comments then I don’t want to get 73 messages of other comments on the post and then sift through all of them.
Also, I like to interact with the people on my blog and keep a conversation going. If they don’t check back or subscribe then the conversation pretty much ends.
I wrote a post last week “How To Turn First Time Blog Visitors Into Raving Fans And Avid Readers” and another blogger Debbie Lattuga commented about this plugin that she found.
Plugin: “ReplyMe”
I installed it immediately. Now, whenever someone comments on my blog and I reply to them they get an automatic message letting them know that I (or anyone else for that matter) is engaging them in conversation by replying to their comment.
When they reply again it will also notify me. So I don’t have to wait to check comments until I login to my wordpress dashboard, ReplyMe will notify my email
Also, the message that is sent is customizable. And anything that’s customizable gets instant brownie points and on my favorite list. Because this gives another chance to express your style and personality and connect with people even more.
It started working as soon as I installed it. In fact, here’s what the first email looked like where I thanked Debbie for telling me about it:
I shared this right away with a few of my friends that are bloggers, now that they installed ReplyMe it’s making it so much easier to keep the conversation flowing on our blogs. This is just another example of how connecting with other bloggers can boost your own. Debbie and I are in totally different industries, but she’s a valuable resource to what I do
Why would you want to keep the conversation going in your comments? I didn’t know why at first. But now that I get it I wrote a post about that too: “How To Turn First Time Blog Visitors Into Raving Fans And Avid Readers”

What a great plugin Steph! We added it right away too. We weren’t a big fan of subscribing to blog posts where there’s 50 million comments and then you have to weed through them all, so this is definitely a time saver. It’s also really cool to keep the conversations going….it creates more social buzz when others comment and shows your real personality when responding. Thanks so much for sharing the goods!
The first thing I thought of was how much easier it is to get the replies that matter to people! When a blog gets a LOT of traffic and comments I don’t want to subscribe to the comments either. I kinda figured I wasn’t the only one
Very Kewl Plugin Stephanie – thanks for sharing it! Now I can keep the conversation going without having to subscribe to every blog out there! Whew!!
Thanks again for sharing – you ROCK!
p.s. – I love you tag line… “Be real, be you, be EPIC!!” nice!
Thanks Donnie, that’s totally original and 100% me on that one
I’m diggin this plugin because now I know that people are getting followups and I don’t feel dumb if I ask a question in reply to their original comment wondering if they’re ever going to come back and see it LOL
Thanks Stephanie for this plug in tip. I use Disqus which sends me email notification and I can reply to the comment thru my email. But I think I will take a look at the “Reply Me” as it sounds like it has some other features I would enjoy. Thanks for sharing!
I love it because the bloggers that comment get an automatic email from me whether it’s me or someone else that replies to their comment
I’ve seen Disqus on other blogs too. I had debated at one point about using it but couldn’t figure out its benefits. What are the pros/cons of using it?
To tell you the truth Stephanie I am not overly thrilled with Disqus – it came with my blog. I was pleased to find out that it sent me emails when someone commented on my blog. I do like how ‘ReplyMe” shows my comment that I made to you and then your comment back to me. I can’t always remember what I said or commented on!! Disqus doesn’t do that – or at least I dont’ think it does – might be something I should look into
I heard that since Disqus actually hosts your comments on their server instead of you hosting it on your server with your blog that if something happens you don’t have the ability to back them up somewhere else. I never looked into it far enough to know if that’s totally accurate or not though.
I know wordpress itself has the option to send me an email when someone comments on a post, but I found that I was running to login to wordpress everytime I got one of those emails and it would distract me. So now I just go in at certain intervals to check messages.
I like ReplyMe for the same reason! Because I sometimes forget too
Awesome, Stephanie! Thanks for sharing! I have installed this new plugin and I can’t wait to use it!

You’ll dig it Andie,,, especially since you can customize it! I added a PS. at the bottom of the email people get from me
I’m still in the “Beta Phase” on this one, but it looks like it is going to be a really good plugin. I installed it when you told me about it a couple of days ago. Thanks for the tip.
I’m diggin it so far and seeing that people come back and reply on the comment thread again. Before, the comment thread would die out and end after I replied unless people subscribed to the comments or by some chance returned to see if there were more comments. I’m lovin it that people that I comment on all the time are installing it because now I don’t have to go back and check to see if there is a reply to my original comment. I need to make Dave add it cuz I hate subscribing to his comments because I get 73 freaking emails notifying me of comments LOL
Thanks for the great recommendation, Stephanie! I’m off to install now….
Sweet! Now I’ll know if there’s a reply when I comment on your blog
Hi Stephanie,
Seems like a great plug-in to encouragement engagement, and isn’t that what it’s all about?
Thanks for sharing with us and enjoy the rest of your weekend

It really is probably the best plugin to encourage people to engage in conversation through comments. It’s such a simple idea that I thought it was brilliant!
Hi Stephanie!
This is my first time on your blog and WOW it started with a bang! This is fantastic and I will be installing it right away. Debbie is a great blogger and a shout out to her for sharing!
I am really excited about the opportunity to engage more completely with the wonderful people who visit my blog. It is a unique way to stay informed and connected.
Thanks for sharing Stephanie!

Debbie is awesome for blogging wisdom
I think the biggest asset I have found when it comes to building my blog and getting visitors to engage has been other bloggers. Everyone seems to know something that can’t be found in just one central location. I love the knowledge that I’m picking up just by visiting others blogs and talking to other bloggers.
Hey Stephanie,
I have been using the ReplyMe plugin since reading your Residual Leads for Life e-book (definitely worth buying the full version!!). I can attest to the fact that this awesome little plugin goes a long way in creating more of a conversational tone interaction with readers, as well as keeping them coming back for me.
Awesome recommendation as usual! Thanks for lighting the way!
