MLM Success Really As Easy As ABC?
6 years working in automotive dealership management and I know a couple things about closing a sale. Each newbie on the sales floor was given a booklet of 100 closing scenarios on their first day. They were expected to learn and memorize 5 new ones each week. If that sounds cold and impersonal, it was.
I left the automotive industry for the network marketing industry. Which is still an industry based on sales and both with a fairly negative perception from those on the outside looking in.
I didn’t want to bring the negative attitude of closing a sale with me into network marketing. I’ve also never cared for the acronym ABC (Always Be Closing). So I was grateful when I came across an alternative to this phrase. Always Be Confirming.
Closing is cold and negative and feels like an ending. Like you shut somebody out. Quite often when a seller gets their money at a closing it really is the end. It’s the end of the communication. It’s the end of receiving the sweet talking.
It should be the beginning, especially in network marketing. This is where the relationship begins and the true communication and growing in a business relationship starts. In network marketing our prospects are not sales that are to be closed. A prospect is potential part of your team. Teams communicate and collaborate and mentor each other.
So stop trying to “close the sale”. The alternative I have found is “confirm the partnership”.
ABC has taken on a new meaning for me. I’ve left “closing” to the car sales folk. This is an industry of relationships and I commit myself to building and confirming relationships.
ABC = Always Be Confirming
Synonyms:
Closing = shut, end, terminate, fold, shut down, finish, stop, ceaseConfirm = corroborate, support, affirm, reassure, approve, covenant
Changing one word can change your entire outlook and approach and revolutionize your MLM business.
